• Welcome

The purpose of this blog is to share what inspires us. Heather Donlan Photography is a boutique photography studio located in sunny Naples, Florida. The art of photography is only half of what we do. Forming intimate relationships with
our clients and making people smile is what completes our role as a photography studio.

    We love what we do.

The many faces of Neeva

Look how expressive she is!  You could simply eat her up!

Sunset Beach Session in Naples

This couple got married a few months ago and her friends surprised the newlyweds with a sunset beach session as a fun gift!  It can be hard to get comfortable in front of the camera, especially for an hour, with someone who have just met.  But these guys did great…and hopefully enjoyed themselves while we were at it!

Girls Night Out

A few photos from our Girls Night Out Event held at the studio in December.  The first 15 people to the event got a new Facebook photo.  Some of my favorites are of girlfriends hamming it up together…myself included!  Three separate boutiques brought goods into the studio for a private party.  We raised a bundles of toys for Toys For Tots thanks to all the generous ladies who brought gifts in as their “cover charge”!  Thanks for a fun night ladies and we’ll see you again next year!

All you need is…brotherly love

So…sometimes the sessions don’t always go as planned.  When I’m working with young kids, as we all know, it can be a total crap shoot as to what type of mood they are in.  And when you have more one than child, then you’re almost guaranteed a meltdown at some point…

What makes me giggle about the following photos is that I’ve simply cropped out the little man with the meltdown to capture these super sweet and loving images of the other two brothers.

Here are a few others from the session.  The little man rebounded super quick and we got amazing shots the rest of the afternoon.  Behold the power of candy…and brotherly love!

Family Beach Photos

This was another very chilly morning on the beach.  This family was such troopers about getting out on the cold sand (and getting up so early that morning too).  All well worth it once they see how everything turned out!

Naples Beach Portraits

This lovely family was booked on one of the coldest mornings of the year!  They laughed when I pulled up in my Ugg boots for our beach session.  They did a great job of braving the chilly sunrise session and we got some wonderful images of the family, all huddled together!

The difference an hour can make

We’ve been told over and over that as hectic and crazy as the holidays can be, sometimes just that one hour of time together on the beach is just what the family needs to reconnect.  No phones ringing.  No facebook.  No grocery shopping.  No running around  like a chicken with your head cut off!  Just one of hour of concentrated time with your family.  Most of of our clients walk away not only with amazing photos, but feeling like they got so much more out of the hour.  This particular family came running down to the beach, late for their session, a little frazzled and disconnected.  In that short hour, they were able to simply slow down and enjoy their time together.  Isn’t that what the holidays should be all about?

The Sherman Family

Sometimes the nicest of family images are the ones when everyone is all snuggled in tightly together!

Amy & Andy Get Married!

This was a wedding photographed back in November!  (tsk, tsk to the blogger)!  This La Playa wedding was simply stunning and the bride and groom were so fun.  If you recall, I got spray tanned for a bride a while back to “test” how far in advance she would need to make her tanning appointment…well, this is who I tanned for.  Amy, I have to say, we both were looking wonderfully bronze the day of your wedding.  I was going to just do a post on some of the awesome “getting ready” shots captured, but couldn’t resist adding in a few others from the day.

New Year’s Session on Naples Beach

This is the second time I’ve had the opportunity to photograph this family.  It was such a blast to photograph all these grandkids together!  Boys, Boys, Boys.  Thank heaven for the three little girls to add a little balance into this group!  One of my favorites from the evening…all the grandkids posing on the pilings!  I would of loved to have had a cool shot like this of all my cousins when I was younger.  And check out everyone’s face when high tide was rushing in.  I love the element of surprise!
